It offers two categories of work permits: Category A for high-growth companies in Canada that can demonstrate a need for unique and specialized talent, and Category B for companies that need to fill positions listed on the Global Talent Occupations List, which includes occupations in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).<\/p>\n<p>To participate in the program, Canadian employers must first be designated by the government as eligible to use the Global Talent Stream. Once designated, employers can then apply for a work permit on behalf of a foreign worker who meets the program&#8217;s eligibility criteria. The program is open to employers in all sectors and industries.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Processing time: The Global Talent Stream offers expedited processing times for work permits. Employers can expect to receive a decision on their application within two weeks of submission, which is much faster than the standard processing times for other work permit applications.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Duration of work permits: Work permits issued through the Global Talent Stream are typically valid for up to two years, with the option to extend for an additional two years if necessary.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Spouses and dependents: Foreign workers who receive work permits through the Global Talent Stream may be accompanied by their spouses or common-law partners, who will also be eligible to apply for an open work permit. Foreign workers hired through the GTS must be paid at the prevailing wage or higher. The prevailing wage is defined as the highest figure of either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the median wage for the occupation on the Government of Canada&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jobbank.gc.ca\/explorecareers?select=ec-wages\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">Job Bank<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>the wage within the range an employer pays current employees in the same position at the same location, with the same skills and experience;<\/li>\n<li>the minimum wage floor as defined in the Global Talent occupations list (if applicable).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>Wages for the Global Talent Stream<\/h4>\n\t\t\t<p>Employers must commit to pay the highest of either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an annual salary of at least $80,000, or an annual salary equivalent to the prevailing wage for that occupation if it is higher than $80,000 for the first two unique and specialized positions requested under Category A. For two or more unique and specialized positions requested under Category A, or an annual salary equivalent to the prevailing wage for that occupation if it is higher than $150,000. ESDC says there is no flexibility in the application of the wage requirement for additional positions being requested under Category A;<\/li>\n<li>the applicable minimum wage for the occupation for a highly-skilled position requested under Category B as identified in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/global-talent-stream.html#GlobaltalentlistB\" rel=\"alternate noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Global Talent Occupations List<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>the wage that is within the wage range that the employer is paying current employees hired for the same job and work location, and with the same skills and years of experience; or<\/li>\n<li>the median wage on the Government of Canada&#8217;s Job Bank.
